Computer Science is a practical subject where learners apply the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to solve real-world problems. It is an intensely creative subject that involves invention and excitement. Relevant to the modern, changing world of computing, it’s designed to boost computing skills essential for 21st century. It has a great emphasis on ‘Computational thinking’ and programming.
Here in the computing department, we aim to ensure every student makes progress every day and in every one of our lessons.

We offer an exciting, challenging and broad curriculum taught in a logical way to ensure our learners remember what is being taught and often use our KS4 curriculum to impact on our KS3. Students are well supported to become independent learners, creative thinkers, self-managers and effective participants in their learning.
Facilities
The department has 4 fantastic modern computer suits with all software needed to enable students learn and make progress using the most up to date technology.
Results
The department has had fantastic results over the years with 80% of students gaining Levels 5-9 in 2018 and 75% in 2019
