Media Studies

Media Studies provides students with the critical and analytical skills that are highly sought after by employers and universities. This course is designed to make you a critical and creative thinker by combining in-depth analysis with hands-on production.

You will explore a wide range of media industries, from traditional forms like news, film, and television to modern ones like video games and music promotion. You'll analyse various media texts, from magazine layouts to music videos, gaining a deeper understanding of how they are created and how they impact us.

A key part of the course is applying your knowledge to create your own professional-quality media. You'll use industry-standard software, such as Photoshop and Premiere Pro, to produce projects like a promotional website or a magazine. Your final grade will be a combination of this practical work and an external examination, ensuring you leave with both a strong portfolio and a solid theoretical foundation.
